The 1968 - 1972 Olds Cutlass Classic Update Kit is no exception. The kit boasts 12 features making it the most complete system of its type in the industry!:
Kit Features:

- Standard turn signal flasher, hazard flasher, and horn relay mounted on harness.
- replacement headlight switch with internal 25-amp circuit breaker, adjustable lengthshaft, and custom knob.
- Fuse box designed to fit in original location with no mods to the firewall. All requiredhardware supplied. New ATO fuse panelallows for easy fuse and circuit breakeraccessibility. Harness is laid out and formed to allow for nearly all after marketaccessories such as; gauge packages, wiper systems, heat and air conditioningsystems, etc.
- Steering column connectors can plug directly into the stock column or most aftermarketsteering columns. Can also be mated to other columns using the adapter and terminalsincluded in the kit.
- Separate under dash courtesy lamp assemblies are also included for use along withyour original dome/interior lighting feeds.
- Instrument Cluster wiring is designed with a "cluster harness disconnect" system foreasy service and assembly. Original terminals and connector that will plug into theoriginal gauge cluster (an American Autowire exclusive) are provided. The system willalso connect to most popular aftermarket gauges such as DAKOTA DIGITAL, CLASSICINSTRUMENTS, AUTOMETER, VDO, and others.
- Rear body harness assembly plugs into the main harness at the main bulkheaddisconnect location, and our longer leads allow for stock or custom routing of the wires.Rear body wiring includes backup light lead wires and connectors along with stop andtail light lead wires and connectors. License plate lamp lead connection, as well as thefuel tank sender lead connection is also included.
- Original style lamp sockets and side markers for rear lamps are included.
- NEW floor dimmer switch is provided for ease of installation. Wire length and connectionaccommodate original floor mount dimmer switch.
- Engine wiring includes feeds for coil, tach, water temperature, oil pressure, electricchoke, and electric speedometer (if needed). A heavy gauge alternator feed and fusiblelink are also included for any typical high output 1 wire or internally regulated alternator.Connectors supplied for power and tach leads for GM style H.E.I. distributors along withvarious oil and temp senders.
- Front lighting includes extra long leads that can be routed for stock or optionalappearances. All headlight, parking light, and directional light leads, along with aswitched trigger wire for an electric fan relay (usually recommended with AC) areprovided. Mating terminals and connectors are also provided.
- NEW parking lamp socket and side marker lamp sockets are also included.
The early GM/FORD generators and externally regulated alternators are just not up to the task of providing power to an expanded wiring system like these classic update kits. The point of this kind of kit is really to allow people a way to upgrade and expand their wiring system and so an alternator upgrade is usually part and parcel to this kind of upgrade.
NOTE: These kits are recommended for MODIFIED original vehicles, not OEM restoration projects.
Note: This wiring is designed to work on Internally regulated alternator and have a 12v feed for the coil/distributor/ignition box. This kit IS NOT set up with a resistance wire for a standard, points type ignition system. It is wired with a full 12 volt primary ignition feed that is hot in both the start and run positions. It will support HEI, MSD, other electronic ignition systems, as well as computerized Fuel Injec- tion systems. If you wish to run a points type system, there are illustrations on the engine connection pages to do so. Extra parts that are not included in this kit will be required to complete that operation.
