VHX Gauge Package:

Fully lit needles, backlit faces, and highly visible LCD message centers are a few of the things that you can see which set the VHX Series apart from yesterday's traditional approach to instrumentation. A few of the features which you don't normally see are the micro-controlled precision stepper motors, solid state sensors for unparalleled accuracy, and user-customizable display feedback, all supported by an unrivaled limited lifetime warranty which has become the standard for Dakota Digital instrumentation systems . Completely engineered and manufactured at our facility in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the VHX Series has completely revolutionized the instrumentation industry.

Included system components: The VHX Series utilizes an outboard control mondule which offers several benefits, the most important being simplicity. Instead of bringing bundles of wiring directly to the instruments, it will be routed to the control module (measuring 5.5" x 4.5" x 1") which can be tucked away or centralized in a convenient under-dash location. A single ribbon cable connects the display to the control module, eliminating clutter and providing simplified connections. On-board diagnostics provide simplified troubleshooting, while terminal strips provide secure wire termination.

The VHX Series also includes laboratory grade solid state sensors for tremendous accuracy, as well as 12' harnesses with weather-tight connections to make installation a snap. Included speed sensor easily converts mechanical speedometer cable into electric when necessary. Oil pressure and water temp sensors contain 1/8" NPT sensors as well as bushings to convert to 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" NPT, in addition to 12mm and 16mm varieties for late-model GM Applications. Two pushbutton switches also enclosed allow for initial setup and scrolling through Message Center displays.

Automatic Transmission gear indicator is also included which will display the full name (ie: Park, Overdrive, etc.) of the current gear. Utilizing the gear position indicator will require the use of a Dakota Digital GSS-3000 (see our other items) sending unit.

Dakota Digital instruments systems also include a Demonstration Mode which will cycle the instrument readouts while the vehicle is standing still. This is especially popular while the vehicle is on display at a show, event or simply displaying the instrument system.

Full Metric conversions will cycle between MPH or KPH in the digital message center with the press of a button. Full metric analog instrument systems (KPH & Celsius) are not currently available.

Necessary sensors included for oil pressure (1/8" NPT), Water Temp (1/8" with bushings for 1/4", 3/8", 1/2' NPT as well 12mm and 16mm for GM & LS applications) and speedometer pulse generator.

Fuel level gauge can read either OEM sensor, or any aftermarket style currently available. A universal fuel level sender, SEN-06-1, can be purchased from Dakota Digital if necessary (see our otherm items).

Fully programmable speedometer for various tire sizes, rear-end gearing combinations, etc.

Built-in illumination is activated as headlights/ parking lights are activated. The DIM-1 can be purchased from Dakota Digital to increase or decrease the brightness of the display. The DIM-1 is used in conjunction with your headlight switch (please see our other items)

Fully adjustable warning points alert the user of potential vehicle problems in the digital message center

One-time user settable odometer. This is available only within the first 100 miles of operation. Once exceeded, the mileage can be reset by Dakota Digital at a charge of $20 (see our othem items).

More About the Classic Dash Panel

Classic Dash, formed in 2002, was the first company to create replacement ABS composite dash panels for vehicles of the muscle car era. Today the firm's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is located in Carson City, Nevada, and the company offers the most complete line of replacement dash panels.

These ABS plastic sheets have been sized and prepared for thermal forming, a vacuum-forming process performed at 320 degrees Fahrenheit. The material is endowed with a UV inhibitor to protect the finished panels against damage from the sun.

With gauges installed and dash panel secured to the vehicle, these ABS panels are light in weight and exceedingly rigid.

Accuracy is the key feature of the Thermwood 5-axis CNC high-speed router. It consistently trims these dash panels to within .005 inch plus or minus.
